We REQUEST that you place the following in your artwork -
"Manufacturing by DiscDuplications.com"

1 – Why do I have to order at least 1,000 units?

These disc duplications are “pressed” or “stamped” CDs / DVDs and the paper is printed on large printing presses, not on a desktop printer. The downside to mass duplication is the minimum order of 1000 discs and/or 1000 paper materials. The upside is a very attractive per unit price.

2 – What are over/unders?

In mass duplication the discs and paper materials are run with a few extra pieces, or “overs”. When the automated packaging machines assemble your discs and printing into the case, there will be the occasional jams, resulting in wrinkled paper, etc. Theses units are not shipped to you. Instead, the final billed quantity will be adjusted to reflect the number of units actually shipped to you. This can be slightly “over” or slightly “under” the ordered quantity. Orders of less than 5000 are subject to a +/- 10% over/under, while orders or 5,000 and up are subject to a +/- 5% over/under.

3 – What do you mean by 4 panel, 6 panel and 8 panel?

These are the options for the paper folder that slides in the front of a jewel case. The 4 panel is one piece of paper, folded in half. Each half of each side of the paper is a “panel”. Two panels on one side plus two panels on the other side of the paper make up the 4 panels.

The 6 panel is one piece of paper folded into thirds. The folds result in each side of the paper having 3 panels for a total of 6 panels.

The 8 panel is also one piece of paper folded in half and then folded in half again (sometimes called a “roll” fold). Each side of the paper has 4 panels for a total of 8 panels.

4 – What's a tray card?

The tray card is piece of paper that is fixed inside the jewel case, underneath the CD. It contains the art for the back of the case when the case is closed and the art for the spines. It costs no more to print on both sides of this piece of paper and use a clear tray. When this is done there is another panel, fully visible when the CD is removed from the tray.

5 – Is shrinkwrapping the jewel or Amaray case necessary?

No, it's up to you.

6 – What's the difference between a “jewel case” and an “Amaray case”?

A jewel case is typically used for CDs, Amarays are typically used for DVDs.

7 – What is an “outerwrap”?

An outerwrap is the piece of paper that slides underneath the plastic sleeve of an Amaray case, containing the front, back and spine art.

8 – On the 4, 6 and 8 panel folders and on the tray card what does “4/4” mean?

Printers refer to print jobs based on the number of colors on each side of the paper. “Full color” printing requires 4 ink colors, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black (called CMYK). A “1/1” job is one color used on both sides of the paper, i.e. black and white. Black is the ink color (white is always the paper color).

A 4/4 job is full color on both sides of the paper.

9 – Are other packaging and disc types available?

Yes, we offer virtually any disc and packaging types imaginable. Call us if you need something not shown on this site.

10 – How long does it take to get my discs back?

Typical turnaround time is 3 weeks from your approval of the proofs from the printer. Expedited orders and shipping are available as an option.

11 – How and when do I pay for my order?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, cash or check. Orders must be paid in advance. Corporate orders may be secured via a P.O. pending credit approval. When your order is received the only balance due will be for shipping and the over/under adjustment.

12 – Does Real 2 Reel (or discduplications.com) do the duplications at their facility?

No, we send this work to large duplication and printing facilities. Because we are a production facility we provide this service to our many corporate and entertainment clients. Our purchasing power gives us the opportunity to offer anyone a very competitive price for their duplication needs.

13 – What do I have to provide for my disc?

Duplication masters must be provided to us on:
__A finalized CDR for audioCD, CD-ROM or mixed mode discs.
__A finalized DVDR for DVD-5 video, data or mixed mode discs.
__A DLT tape for DVD-9 video, data or mixed mode discs.
__As an option, we can create those masters for you if you prefer.

14 – What do I have to provide for my paper printing needs?

All artwork must be laid out in the templates found on this website.

For the discs:
__All text must be trapped, and not part of the bitmap image.
__Convert all fonts to outlines.
__Do not use “linked” images, any images should be embedded.
__Actual size, 300dpi, CMYK.

For the paper:
__The files may be submitted as flat TIFF files, actual size, 300dpi, full bleed.
__Be sure to rasterize all text layers.

15 – How do I get a barcode?

We can provide a barcode for your project if you don't have one and it's needed.

16 – Do I get a “proof” of my submitted artwork before the printer starts the job?

We will submit via email a PDF file. Printed copies are available for an additional charge.

17 – What are the templates for?

The templates are the layout specifications for your artwork. Any artwork submitted that is not laid out per our templates will be rejected. Please call if you have any questions.

18 – What if I don't want to do my artwork or don't know how to do it?

Real 2 Reel can provide that service as an option. Call us about your needs.

19 – What does “full bleed” mean?

After both sides of the paper are printed, it gets trimmed to specific measurements. Any ink color that should go to the edge of the paper should extend 1/8” beyond the trim marks shown in the templates. This ensures that no unwanted white edges appear after trimming is completed.
